Umpires are essential. A game cannot take place without an umpire. They hold the highest position of importance on the court. Since they are in charge, they get to decide what constitutes fair and proper play. Anyone can start umpiring from the age of 12. 

New umpires will usually be umpiring either an 5 pm or 6 pm game on Thursday night or 8.00 am Saturday game (9's or 10's games).
